this is thriller night

ten awesome things about the kiwi film "boy" that i just saw this evening:

1. it's directed by taika waititi, the same guy who directed eagle vs shark (you should see that too)
2. it's set in the beautiful waihau bay (out whanau apanui way)
3. it's funny
4. it's sad
5. it's real
6. the kid actors are quite fantastic
7. it takes you back to 1984 - popsicles, stubbies and flip flops
8. it won an award at the sundance festival
9. never has so much been conveyed by the words 'chur bro'
10. the thriller haka at the end just needs to be seen to be believed
