4. i have NO CIGARETTES
5. i have literally just finished working and it's 11pm
6. i have ten board papers to review by Thursday
7. i will have to rewrite many of them as my team, whilst i love them very much and acknowledge they are brilliant in the field, are SEMI-ILLITERATE
8. the tea in this hotel room is HORRIBLE

just one day out of life

This day eight years ago I got on the plane to Koh Samui and had the best two weeks of my life. If I close my eyes I can still remember how things felt. The top ten sensory experiences I have held on to are:

1. view of all the palm trees as I flew into Koh Samui
2. stepping out of the airconditioned Bangkok international airport at midnight into humidity so intense it felt like it'd been slapped with a hot wet blanket
3. the taste of ice cold fresh coconut juice on the beach
4. smoky whole lobster that had been barbecued wrapped in banana leaves
5. hearing the lounge band perform "you say it best" every night as the sunset
6. cold singha beer and scalding hot tom yum from two loungers pushed together outside the villa
7. the way an elephant's skin feels when you hold your palm to it
8. the way the Gulf of Thailand feels on your naked body
9. the feel of hot sand betwen my toes when i stepped out of a tiny boat onto a tiny island where there were only two people
10. watching a storm roll in from the distance as I sat on the beach
